Theresa Nicholson -- a lifelong Eastchester resident who serves on the town Environmental Committee and Wilmont Manor Civic Association – was chosen as Salanitro’s replacement after being sworn in by the man she’s replacing to finish his unexpired term.

Nicholson, an accountant who coaches in the Eastchester Instructional Basketball League and is a Girl Scout leader, said that she plans to utilize her personal and professional experience to influence Eastchester at its highest level.

“Being a councilwoman will give me a greater opportunity to serve my town at a whole new, and exciting level,” she said.

“I’m looking forward to utilizing my 30 years of professional accounting experience and budgeting expertise to help keep costs down while maintaining a high quality of service that residents expect to receive here in Eastchester.”

Eastchester Supervisor Anthony Colavita praised the talents that Nicholson brings to the board, which will prove crucial when the board begins the budget process.

“We’re delighted that Theresa Nicholson has joined the Town Board,” he said in a statement. “Her significant community involvement and professional accounting experience will be an asset to our board.”
