Paulin, Ecklond To Discuss New Tuckahoe Emergency Generator

Paulin, Ecklond and DPW General Foreman James Gizzo will unveil the generator to the public at 11:30 a.m. at the Tuckahoe DPW and discuss the project.

The generator was purchased earlier in the year with nearly $100,000 in funds that were secured by Paulin, a Scarsdale Democrat, through the Capital Projects grant program. The assemblywoman said that this was a perfect time to install a new emergency generator.

“The purchase and installation of this generator couldn’t have come at a more opportune time,” she said. “You need to look no further than the heat wave we experienced a few weeks ago and the power problems that were caused by it. Having this generator available should power concerns arise again, will allow the DPW to continue working uninterrupted.”

The generator was originally going to be installed at the Tuckahoe Community Center on Columbus Avenue, until the generator at the DPW became inoperable. Ecklond said that it would serve the village more effectively in its current home.

“I want to thank Amy Paulin for her efforts in securing this grant for us,” he said. “The emergency generator delivers backup power to our DPW complex, which in turn provides a vital service of fuel dispensing for our police and emergency vehicles, as well as maintaining power to our DPW office to allow us to continue operations during our severe storms.“
