Getting the 411 on 4@1

Akram Enany meticulously arranges candles and other items on a table. The display needs to be perfect. It isn’t that he is obsessive about the visual presentation, he just wants his store to look as polished as possible.

He is the manager, and co-owner, of 4@1, 141 Post Road East. It’s a business and location he knows well, and he is banking on his customers knowing him just as well. Enany managed another store with similar merchandise in the same spot for 15 years.

“I was thinking about opening a store in Greenwich , but the landlord offered me such a good deal, I decided to open here. I know Westport better anyway, and I’m comfortable here,” said Enany.

His wife, Seham, is the co-owner of the store that features men’s, women’s and children’s apparel as well as home furnishings. That combination of four areas of merchandise is the secret to the business’s name: four things at one place, 4@1.

Recently, First Selectman Gordon Joseloff and President of the Westport-Weston Chamber of Commerce Lisa Thygerson helped cut the ribbon for the store’s official opening. A grand opening celebration will be held from July 22 to 25.

All of the store’s offerings are high-end merchandise. That is what Enany said he knows and what he is comfortable selling. He also isn’t shy about offering interior design advice and services to his customers.

“We’re doing very good, more than expected,” said Enany. The previous store closing down is something he considers a blessing, as it opened up the location for his personal venture.

He and Seham  have no employees as of yet. She handles the business end of the model, and he operates the store, carefully selecting and organizing the merchandise.
