Jewelry Grabbed From Another Darien Home

Thieves made off with jewelry and a computer from a Darien home last week. It was the second burglary in recent weeks in which jewelry and computers were taken. The owners of a house on Intervale Road told police they left last Wednesday, Jan. 19, at 8:30 a.m. and returned at 5 p.m., but did not notice until 8:30 p.m. that a Dell computer and some gold and silver jewelry had been taken from two bedrooms. When police responded, they found no sign of forced entry and believe the thieves entered the house through the unlocked garage doors.

Also from the police blotter:

Adam Allam, 46, was charged with DWI last Monday. At 12:06 a.m. a police officer spotted Allam sitting in the middle of the parking lot behind 381 Post Road with his lights on and his engine running. When the officer checked on the driver, he detected the strong odor of alcohol. Allam failed his field sobriety test, posted a $260 bond and has a Jan. 27 court date.

A television was stolen out of a house being renovated on Five Mile River Road. The owner of the house purchased the house in November and noticed the theft on Sunday. The television was still in its box and was worth $800.
