Danbury Fires Police Officer Accused Of Using Excessive Force

DANBURY, Conn. -- Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton fired a city police officer with a history of using excessive force, NewsTimes.com reported.

Daniel Sellner, a 19-year veteran of the force, was fired on Jan. 14 from an internal investigation of an incident last August, the NewsTimes said. Sellner, former vice president of the police union, also had at least two prior incidents where he used excessive force, the story said.

Sellner's attorney, Norman Pattis, plans to file an appeal to the state Board of Mediation and Arbitration, the story said.
