Over the past several week's officers said they have seen a rise in the number of vehicles being broken into across the city and valuables taken from unlocked cars.

Residents can help themselves, and the police department by taking a few precautions including:

  • When parking for the night, make sure to remove purses, computers, phones, money, etc., and lock the car.
  • Call police to report any suspicious persons, vehicles or activity.

Officers said the biggest deterrent to this type of criminal activity is to make it harder for the bad guys by not leaving anything of value in vehicles.
