Man Seriously Injured After Being Hit By Vehicle On Long Island

A 46-year-old man crossing a Long Island roadway suffered serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle.

The incident took place around 8:20 p.m., Thursday, March 12 in Merrick, said the Nassau County Police.

According to detectives, the man was crossing Merrick Road when he was struck by a 2007 Mercury Milan that was traveling eastbound on Merrick Road near the intersection of Central Parkway.

The victim was transported by the Merrick Fire Department to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
