TUCKAHOE, N.Y. – Tuckahoe High School seniors Robert Liebowitz and Min-Kyu Shin have been named Commended Students in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Principal Bart Linehan presented a letter of commendation from the school and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation to the two students.

Nearly 34,000 students around the nation are being recognized by the Merit Scholarship Corporation for their academic promise. Commended Students place in the top 5 percent of the more than 1.5 million students who entered the competition by taking the 2011 PSAT.

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation believes that recognizing academically talented students plays a fundamental role in the advancement of education in the country.

“Both Robert Liebowitz and Min-Kyu Shin represent some of the best and brightest minds in the country as demonstrated by their outstanding performance in this highly competitive program,” Linehan said.
