It is always a pleasure to share what we are doing at the middle school and hear your questions and concerns. One of the items we discussed at the parent event was our Eighth Grade Moving Up Ceremony.
This year, we will be focusing our end of year graduation on the entire class. I strongly believe that all eighth-grade students should be celebrated at this end of year event, and given the size of the eighth- grade class and the time it will take for them all to be recognized, we felt it was the right year to being holding a separate Awards Night for the eighth grade.
Though still in the planning stages, we are planning to hold it a few nights earlier than the moving up ceremony. Those students winning awards will be notified that they are to be honored that night and will learn what their award is at the Awards Night.
We also discussed the work we are doing with faculty, and soon with students, on Mindset. How we view intelligence, as either fixed and can’t change, or able to grow and change, directly impacts how we perceive hard work and our perseverance when faced with challenges.
I will be sharing more about this work at a parent meeting once we have our student modules scheduled in science classes.
