ARDSLEY, N.Y. -- A school administrator with nearly 30 years of experience has been hired as the new interim principal at Ardsley Middle School.
The Ardsley Board of Education appointed JoAnne Januzzi to the opening effective Aug. 24.
Januzzi replaces Edgar McIntosh who left Ardsley to become director of curriculum for the Briarcliff Manor Union Free School District.
Januzzi comes to the Ardsley Union Free School District after serving as principal at Henry H. Wells Middle School in the Brewster Central School District, principal of Tuckahoe High School in Eastchester and assistant principal at Westlake Middle School in Mount Pleasant.
Januzzi began her educational career as a special education teacher on Long Island.
“I am very happy to announce that JoAnne will be joining our team for the next school year," Ardsley Schools Superintendent Lauren Allan said in a press statement. "Her deep experience working with middle school students and faculty, along with her vibrant and open personality, make her an ideal candidate."
Allan said that Januzzi and Assistant Principal Stu Horlacher "will make a great team and I am confident that our middle school learning community will continue to thrive under their leadership.“
Januzzi said, “I am looking forward to working with the students, faculty and families of Ardsley Middle School for the next school year. Ardsley is a high-performing district with a dedicated, professional staff and I will work diligently with them to ensure a positive learning experience for all our students this year.”
Januzzi holds a bachelor's of science degree in elementary education/psychology and a master's degree in special education, both received from Hofstra University. She received her doctorate in educational leadership from Fordham University.
