On Tuesday, it was announced that Bronxville High School was chosen as the recipient of this year’s Lower Hudson Regional Information Center’s Pioneer Award, which is awarded annually to a school district, teacher and director of technology in Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties.

The Lower Hudson Regional Information Center’s Pioneer Award recognizes innovations in the use of technology that help improve both teaching and the learning experience for students.

“This award is a celebration of the work that's been taking place in the district, as well as honoring the innovation that we want to foster in students and staff,” Director of Technology Jennifer Forsberg said. “I'm very excited and it's motivating to want to continue building on existing successes and honing in on innovative ideas from our students, teachers, administration and community.”

According to the Lower Hudson Regional Information Center (LHRIC), Bronxville was recognized this year for “demonstrating regional leadership through its innovative use of technology,” with committee members noting the district represents a model for others in the area to follow.

This marks the second straight year a school from Eastchester earned a LHRIC Pioneer Award, with Tuckahoe and Superintendent Barbara Nuzzi being honored last year. Bronxville will be presented with their award at a ceremony on Friday, May 13.

“The award validates the great strides we have made under Jennifer Forsberg's leadership and with the active involvement of our students and teachers,” Bronxville Superintendent David Quattrone added. “In a short period of time, we have moved to a systemwide perspective on how technology can enrich learning and teaching for all students. On a daily basis we can see examples of how technology facilitates collaboration, creativity and other elements of the Bronxville Promise."
