Students at the school were treated to acrobatic performances from the New York Chinese Cultural Center's Acrobat Team in the assembly sponsored by the Chapel School PTO. The Cultural Center is a nonprofit cultural and educational institution that is dedicated to deepening the understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture in the global and local communities. The artists performed in full, traditional Chinese costumes, and introduced students to Chinese culture through demonstrations and audience interaction.

The five award-winning artists performed a wide range of acrobatic acts, including plate spinning, trick cycling, foot juggling and Chinese water bowl manipulations.

"The students were amazed to watch the acrobatics as they demonstrated an art form that is extracted from skills used in daily life, work and martial arts," school representatives said.

The study of International Celebrations is part of The Chapel School’s Multicultural Studies Program.

"This program enables the wonderfully diverse Chapel School family, which includes parents, guardians, students, teachers, administrators, to explore and celebrate traditions and accomplishments of people from a wide range of backgrounds," representatives said.

“Music, art, literature, science, athletics, cuisine, dance and so much more are masterfully weaved into all areas of the curriculum,” said James Dhyne, principal of The Chapel School.

The Chapel School is at 172 White Plains Road in Bronxville. For more information about the school and its programs, residents are asked to call 914-337-3202 or visit the school's website.
