Dobbs Ferry School Budget Vote Set for Tuesday

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – The voting for the Dobbs Ferry School District’s 2012-2013 budget will be held on Tuesday along with an election for the board of education.

The district's adopted budget is $38,619,809, a 1.44 percent increase over the 2011-2012 budget of $38,073,156. This comes along with a 1.97 percent tax levy increase and a 2.72 percent increase in tax rate.

There will also be a proposition on the ballot to create a multi-purpose room by renovating the high school cafeteria with money from the school district’s reserve for capital projects.  The school district said that this project will be a maximum expenditure of $1.5 million and it will come at no extra cost to residents.

Lynne Black will be running for reelection as the board of education president and incumbent Anna Sterne will not seek reelection.  Jonathan Greengrass will be running for the board and both Black and Greengrass are running unopposed for two openings on the board this year.  Terms are for three years and winners would serve until June 30, 2015.

Voting will be held from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the Dobbs Ferry High School gym on Tuesday.
