MILLBROOK, N.Y. -- Dutchess Day School held a 60th anniversary gala recently at the sheep barn on the Thorndale estate in Millbrook, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.
Some 380 guests turned out on April 30 to celebrate the school’s first 60 years. Parent volunteers worked for a year planning the event, transforming the barn and acquiring more than 160 items to be auctioned off in both a silent and live auction, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.
Guests from all parts of the school’s history were in attendance from a former head of school, several former board presidents, alumni, former teachers and parents, current parents, teachers, and administrators, grandparents, as well as community friends and supporters of the school.
Gala chairs were currents parents Deborah Domber and Eliza Thorne, who is also a 1991 alumna of the school.
