Another $34,740 is needed to meet the goal of $325,000.
Many of the initial commitments, such as those from the Eastchester Youth Soccer Association, the NFL and private donors, were secured through the efforts of Eastchester High School Athletic Director Jason Karol, Eastchester Sports Club President Dan Schultz and its board, John Collins and the Eastchester Irish American Social Club and Maura McMahon and the Eastchester Alumni Association.
Since then the Sports Club has secured additional commitments of $62,750 made up of support from the Sports Club, the Town of Eastchester Government, Mickey Spillanes 10th Annual Golf Outing to be held on Tuesday, Sept. 29 and the “Buy a Seat” campaign.
The “Buy a Seat” initiative started in late April and as of May 15 there are 49 “Buy a Seat” donors, spread among the gold ($1,000), silver ($500) and bronze ($250) levels.
“We are thrilled with the support and commitment of all of our donors and the new “buy a seat” donors to date," said Schultz. "We are committed to raising the funds needed to make this project happen. The sooner we raise the money the quicker the plans can be sent to the State Education Department for final approval to get the project started.”
“In order to make this project happen we need the continued support of the community," Schultz added. "This facility upgrade will enhance our new turf field and will last for years to come. Please support the cause.”
