The Players Club is the first high school theater group in the New York City area to gain performance rights to the show. It was an off-Broadway hit last year and features characters Englishman Phileas Fogg and French sidekick Passepartout.
The play follows the duo as they try to win a bet by proving they can get around the world in 80 days. It is a Mark Brown adaptation of a Jules Verne action-adventure novel. There are 11 cast members who are performing the nearly 40 roles in the play.
Six other cast members perform as scenery and transportation. Various items on the stage will also be transformed into ships, steam engines and more.
“Around the World in 80 Days” is appropriate for all ages. General admission is $9 for adults and $6 for students.
