In total, $292,510 has been raised by the Eastchester Eagles Sports Club during the “Buy a Seat” fundraiser, leaving them less than $40,000 short of the stated $325,000 goal.

Nearly $20,000 has been raised in the past two weeks by local donors and organizations as they seek to reach the fundraising goal so they can finalize plans to send to the state department for approval and get the project started.

Bolstered by a $90,000 grant from the Eastchester Youth Soccer organization, large donations have also come from an NFL grant ($25,000), local government, ($20,000), the Eastchester Sports Club ($18,500) and several alumni groups, with an estimated $15,000 in deferred money coming from events scheduled for September.

The Sports Club is still accepting donations, with special recognition for “gold” ($1,000), “silver” $500 and bronze “$250” level donors, who can have their names engraved on plaques that will honor them as major donors to the “Buy a Seat” campaign.

“How did we reduce our shortfall from $45,940 to $32,490 and increase our total commitments for ‘Buy a Seat’ up to $30,000, which includes 56 donors to date,” the Sports Club said in a joint statement. “The answer is the continued support from the community of Eastchester. In order to make this project happen, we still need the support of the community to meet our goal.”
