EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- Wintry weather seems to be catching up to us at last, and the Anne Hutchinson Elementary School in Eastchester wants parents and students to be prepared.

Parents of children who attend the Anne Hutchinson Elementary School are being asked to make note of policies on closings, delays, and early dismissals.

The school has issued to following tips for keeping up with closings, delays and dismissals:

  • If a two-hour delay has been announced, parents are asked not to send their children any earlier than 15 minutes before the official opening; there will be no one available at the school to supervise them. A delayed opening means school begins at 10:33 a.m. On those days, there will be no band, orchestra, or chorus.
  • On early dismissal days, parents or guardians will be notified via an automated phone message system and through local media. Parents should be certain that the school’s main office and any emergency phone chain contacts have their correct telephone numbers. If parents have changed their number or have moved, they are asked to put the changes in writing, addressed to their child’s teacher, so they can be forwarded to the main office.
  • Parents should have a plan in place for their children in the event of an early dismissal. If they cannot pick up their children from school, or be at a bus stop, parents should have a neighbor or family member do so. Your children should always know the plan so they do not panic or become concerned.
  • Emergency announcements will be made on the following local radio or television stations or websites: district cable stations (78 Cablevision and 24 Verizon); Eastchester Daily Voice; WHUD (100.7 FM); WFAS (1230 AM or 94.3 FM); WCBS (880 AM); Cablevision Channel 12; FIOS Channel 1; and The Journal News’ website, www.lohud.com.
The school is at 60 Mill Road in Eastchester.
