EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – Eastchester High School students were treated to a lecture this week using diamonds and a light.
Students in Rob Ross’ physics class were treated to a laser light show in the classroom, during their discussion of the refraction of light into different materials.
The lesson taught students that a diamond has the smallest critical angle, which makes it more difficult for the entering light to exit the diamond. As a result, the light reflects internally many times inside the diamond, which causes it to sparkle so brightly and reflect around the room.
