District parents are being asked to keep the following information on school closings, dismissals, and delays handy.
- Delayed openings: A 2-hour delay due to inclement weather means there will be no staff to supervise children sent in early. On those days there will be no band, orchestra or chorus. Delayed opening and early dismissal notifications will be sent through an automated phone message system to the phone number that parents provided on their emergency contact forms. Notifications of delayed openings are also announced on television and radio. Students should not arrive any earlier than 15 minutes before the delayed opening time. A two-hour delay means that school begins at 10:33 a.m.
- Early Dismissal due to emergencies: Planning is everything. If parents are unable to pick up their children from school, or be at the bus stop, they should have a plan in place with a neighbor or family member. Children should be made aware of the plan so they do not panic or become concerned.
- Emergency contact information: Parents should provide emergency contact numbers to the school. Also, they should make sure that those contacts have agreed to assist them with emergency pick-ups. Any changes in the parents' phone number or address must be put in writing, addressed to the child’s teacher, so they can forwarded to the school’s main office.
- Closings: Announcements will be made on the following radio and television stations or websites: www.eastchesterschools.org; district cable stations (78 Cablevision and 24 Verizon).
