Eastchester Schools Closed Thursday, Friday

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – All Eastchester schools will be closed for the remainder of the week while the area continues to recover from Hurricane Sandy, according to the district.

Downed trees are still prevalent in the area, forcing Eastchester schools to close for the week.

With many trees still blocking roadways and traffic signals still dark, buses would not be able to get through, officials said. Several school buildings were still without power Wednesday, as are countless residents.

The decision to keep the schools closed was made after an inspection of the schools with Eastchester police officials.

The district requests that readers spread the information to other parents who may not have access to Internet or phones.
