Following a special meeting of the board of education on Tuesday night, the district announced that Wynne, who has been the assistant principal since 2009, would be promoted to principal.
Board President David Carforo said the district was fortunate to have an administrator already in-house.
“The Board and I are delighted that Wynne will be taking on this role,” he said. “Supporting a strong learning community has been his priority. We fully expect that he will continue to create new academic initiatives and innovative approaches to instruction.
Wynne is responsible for implementing character and anti-bullying campaigns at the middle school. He designed a new sixth grade orientation program and was responsible for maintaining student behavior and discipline. Additionally, Wynne has served as a chairperson for the math, science, special education and arts department.
The new principal is currently overseeing the middle school construction and renovation project. He will be appointed at the April 23 Board of Education meeting and will begin at his new position on July 15.
“I have an unwavering belief in student growth and success. Every day challenges inspire us to think creatively, nurture and employ novel objectives, model best practices and support staff members in pursuit of improving instruction,” Wynne said. “
