Eastchester Schools Set To Close On Tuesday

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – With the massive winter storm rapidly approaching Westchester County, Eastchester School District officials have cancelled classes on Tuesday, Jan. 27.

With more than two feet of snow expected in Eastchester, the district was forced to close for Tuesday. A decision regarding classes on Wednesday, Jan. 28 will be made Tuesday. The regular Board of Education meeting was rescheduled to 8 p.m. on Thursday Jan. 29 at the high school library.

Due to the snow, the district was forced to alter its high school standardized testing schedule. The revised plan can be found here.

According to the National Weather Service, “blizzard-like conditions” will begin Monday afternoon and continue through Tuesday night. As much as 16 inches of snow may fall overnight, with an additional seven to 11 inches expected on Tuesday. There will be blustery winds, with gusts reaching 35 mph and temperatures hovering around 25 degrees.
