Director of Technology Jennifer Forsberg and Director of Curriculum and Instruction Mara Koetke were among six Bronxville educators to present at the conference, which serves as a national network of school leaders focused on integrating 21st century skills such as critical thinking, creativity and collaboration in the classroom.
The team from Bronxville presented at a workshop designed to help their peers “embrace transformation,” where they laid out an overview of the Bronxville Promise, “which was developed to define the dispositions that administrators and teachers believe to be integral to the success of their students: their capacity to innovate, lead, think critically and engaged the world.”
During the presentation, the Bronxville administrators discussed their project-based learning approach and explained how they are developing “curriculum-embedded performance assessments for engaged citizenship.” They also spoke of their Student Help Desk, a team of technology-savvy students that help their teachers utilize tech in the classroom.
According to Koetke, the session allowed participants to hear about the progress of other districts around the country and to learn about the various approaches educators are taking to enable their students to reach the most of their potential.
“It was a wonderful opportunity to share where we are int his journey and to think with like-minded colleagues about what it means to educate students in the 21st century, with the focus of developing skills such as collaboration, critical thinking, creativity and communication,” she said. “EdLeader21 provided a wonderful platform to do so.”
