EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Eastchester Union Free School District will hold a public forum on Thursday, Aug. 11, to give residents an opportunity to comment on the budget for technology and infrastructure spending of nearly half a million dollars in Smart Schools funds.
The Smart Schools Bond Act of 2014 authorized the issuance of $2 billion of general obligation bonds by New York, to finance improved educational technology and infrastructure. The district has been allocated $477,302 of that.
Using the Eastchester Comprehensive Technology Plan adopted by the district and the state Education Department-approved 2015-18 District Instructional Technology Plan Survey, these funds are proposed to be used for upgrading network infrastructure, to provide a robust wireless learning environment for students and staff throughout the school district.
