Meet Your Eastchester Board Of Education Candidates

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – Four candidates will be seeking three open seats on the Eastchester Board of Education during next week’s election.

Paul Doyle, Mary Messner Martin, Anita Erzetic and Judah Holstein will be on this year's Eastchester Board of Education ballot.

Incumbents Paul Doyle and Mary Messner Martin are being challenged by newcomers Anita Erzetic and Judah Holstein

Doyle, 51, has been a member of the Board of Education since 2007. During his tenure, he has served as the board president, the chair of both the Facilities and Education Committee and remains the board liaison with SEPTA. He is the coordinator of Midnight Run and serves as a youth basketball coach.

Martin, 46, was initially appointed to the board in 2010 to fill an open position and was subsequently elected for a three-year term. She is an active member of the PTA and is a former co-president of the Anne Hutchinson Elementary School PTA. She has one student in the high school and one in the middle school.

Holstein, 43, gained notoriety after crash landing his private plane in a parking lot near the Westchester County Airport in November. He is a former president of the high school PTA and current president of the Anne Hutchinson PTA. Holstein is a Cub Scout leader and member of the Eastchester Alumni Association. He currently has three children enrolled in the district.

Anita Erzetic, who emigrated from Australia before moving to Eastchester in 2008, is a newcomer to the ballot. She is a former co-president of the Waverly Elementary School PTA and has served as representative for the Greenvale PTA Council. She presently has three children enrolled in Eastchester elementary schools.

Eastchester residents can vote for their candidates and for the adopted school budget from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the high school gym or the Garth Road Community Center.
