Parents Invited To English Language Arts Night At Waverly School

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- The fourth Parent University “Core Event” (English Language Arts Night) will take place Thursday, at 7 p.m., at Waverly School in Eastchester.

The purpose of ELA Night is to provide information that will enable parents and caregivers to better support their child’s literacy development at home. Waverly teachers will be on hand to facilitate two, grade-specific sessions that have been designed to give parents the information on the following topics:

Kindergarten: Mastering High-Frequency Words, Reading with Independence
First Grade: Word Attack Strategies, Reading for Meaning at Home

Each 20-minute session is filled with information targeted to help children. This "adults only" event will begin in the gymnasium promptly at 7 p.m., with a few remarks about the importance of reading to children.
