The doors of the high school are once again open, and emergency personnel from the Scarsdale Police and Fire Department, as well as members of the Westchester County Bomb Squad have cleared the scene to allow classes to resume regularly.

Scarsdale Police Capt. Thomas Altizio said that although crews using explosive detecting canines found no device, the police department will continue monitoring the situation and investigating the threat.

“School officials were given back the building, and at this time, all emergency personnel have left the school. Scarsdale police will continue increased patrols in the area,” he said. “The students that were relocated were bussed back to the high school and will be released there.”

The high school had to be evacuated shortly after 10 a.m. on Monday when a threat was found on a bathroom wall. The students were held at the athletic fields until they could be transported to the middle school for safekeeping.

Shortly after 1 p.m., Superintendent of Schools Thomas Hagerman alerted parents that the threat was believed to be harmless, and that he foresaw a regularly scheduled dismissal.
