At their latest meeting, the Board of Education announced that Mark Barnett - who has been the assistant principal of the Hommocks Middle School in the Mamaroneck School District for six years - has been named the new Tuckahoe Middle School Principal.

Prior to his tenure in at Hommocks Middle School, Barnett was an assistant principal of Middle School 118 in Manhattan for three years, and he is a former middle school math teacher. He takes over as principal on July 1, the day after Amon’s assignment concludes.

According to the Board, they conducted a thorough search process over several months to find the ideal candidate to take over from Amon permanently. Before being chosen, he went through several rounds of interviews, including conversations with the site-based interview committee and administrative interview committee, who both tabbed him as a finalist.

“I believe Mr. Barnett’s strong knowledge of middle-level mathematics and science programs, combined with his solid experience as a middle school assistant principal in a high performing Westchester County school district makes him the right choice for a Tuckahoe Middle School Principal,” Schools Superintendent Carl Albano said. “I am confident that he will provide both stability and quality leadership for our middle school.”
