Congratulations to THS artists Anna Szpak, Adriana Santorelli and Grant Reyes Guerra for having their work chosen for display in the regional High School Art Exhibit at the O’Silas Gallery at Concordia College. The exhibit will run through Sunday, Jan. 24.

Also, congratulations to All State Football player Chris Corrado and Honorable Mention winners Matthew Annunziata and Christian Pinto.

Midterm exams are rapidly approaching. They begin Tuesday, Jan. 26, so please encourage your student to end the second marking period on a high note and gear up for a successful midterm assessment experience.

Friday during period 5, our graduates from 2015 will be part of a guidance panel to review their first year of college experiences with our seniors. I thank the guidance department for organizing this event.

In an effort to recognize our seniors, we will be hosting a senior scholarship and awards recognition night Tuesday, June 21 at 7 p.m. There we will announce and recognize seniors receiving scholarships and awards previously noted at graduation. This venue will allow students to be more appropriately recognized as opposed to quickly referencing each student during the graduation ceremony. It will also allow those attending graduation to focus on the achievement of graduation without being concerned whether or not they will be recognized as a scholarship or award winner. We will send invitations to those seniors receiving scholarships and awards in early June.

Parents of 11th grade students are advised that the guidance counselors will be starting up their individual parent meetings with each student to initiate the college application process. If you haven't been contacted for a meeting, you will be shortly.

A note from the Athletic Department to keep in mind while making this year’s summer plans: the start date for fall sports is Saturday, Aug. 27.

Key dates:

Monday, Jan. 18: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day – schools closed

Monday, Jan. 25: Second marking period ends

Tuesday, Jan. 26 – Friday, Jan. 29: Midterms and Regents exams
