Tuckahoe Middle School's Interim Principal Settles In To New Job

TUCKAHOE, N.Y. -- Carrie Amon began her duties as interim principal of Tuckahoe Middle School on Monday, Aug.1.

Amon replaced Dr. Ellen McDonnell who is taking over as the new assistant superintendent. Amon was named to the position by the Board of Education during a special meeting in July.

“I believe Ms. Amon’s strong knowledge of literacy, special education and English as a New Language programs combined with her extensive background as a school building leader in a high performing Westchester County school district make her a very good fit for our middle school at this time,” Assistant Superintendent Carl Albano said in a statement.

For the past 13 years, Amon served as the Principal of the Mamaroneck Avenue Elementary School until her recent retirement. She also served as the Assistant Principal of the Mamaroneck Avenue Elementary School for three years from 2000 through 2003. 

Amon has a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Elementary Education from Brooklyn College, and an Advanced Certificate in Administration and Supervision from Hunter College.
