Dear TMS families:

Happy New Year! We have spent the past week getting back into the swing of things. We are now more than halfway through the second marking period.

The last day of the marking period is Jan. 29. Hopefully you have been able to check the Parent Portal to review your child's progress with your child. As always, please contact your child's teachers with any questions or concerns.

I spent two days in Albany serving on the New York State Teacher Certification Exam Bias Review Committee. The purpose of the committee is to review each test item that may appear on a teacher certification exam for multiple forms of bias.

It was definitely a learning experience to see what teacher candidates need to know in order to get certification in their chosen field. It really does take all kinds of talents, interests and expertise to create a robust teacher workforce.

Hopefully you received the request from our guidance counselor, Debbie DiFrancesco, for volunteers for Career Day in March. Please contact her if you are interested in sharing your career experience with our students.

I will be holding mid-year grade level meetings next week with each grade. Please ask your child to share what we discuss. I'll give you some highlights next week in the TMS Weekly as well.

Best,

Ellen J. McDonnell
