Tuckahoe Special Education PTA Welcomes New Staff

TUCKAHOE, N.Y. --  The Tuckahoe Special Education PTA (SEPTA) Committee introduced new staff members at its first meeting of the 2013-14 school year. It also announced two recreational programs available to students.

The staffers come from diverse backgrounds, and all have direct experience in special education.

Christy Brockhausen, a fourteen-year veteran at The Windward School in White Plains, N.Y., holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's of professional studies in elementary special education. Her doctorate is pending from Fordham University.

Kristen Jacobson is the new self-contained special education teacher for grades three through five. Jacobson was previously employed by the New York City Department of Education in Brooklyn, N.Y. She has her master's degree from Syracuse University.

Randy Newman has a masters in counseling psychology from Teachers College at Columbia University as well as a master's in psychology from Yeshiva University.

Two after-school recreational programs are available to students on Tuesday, from 3-4 p.m. at the William E. Cottle Elementary School and on Wednesday at the Tuckahoe Middle School from 2:30-3:30 p.m.
