High school principal Dr. Bart Linehan said the club was recognized for its volunteer efforts.

As a result, he said, Optimum will be donating $1,000 to Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building affordable housing for people in need.

The club will also receive $500 in “seed” money for future activities, Linehan said.
