This week, Ushay, who achieved a perfect score on five different Regents exams and maintained a 99.52 grade-point-average, was named the salutatorian for the Tuckahoe High School Class of 2013.

Ushay was the recipient of four different Senior Awards, which are given to the student with the highest academic average in each subject area. He has also served as a peer mentor and role model for fellow students since he walked through the doors of the high school four years ago, school officials said.

Outside of the classroom, Ushay was active in a myriad of programs and organizations. He was a member of the Science Olympiad Club, took vocal lessons, practiced martial arts, participated in theater and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity.

In the fall, Ushay will continue his education as a part of the Macaulay Honors College Program at Queens College.
