Winter Weather Forces Tuckahoe Schools To Shorten Spring Recess

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – Due to the barrage of winter weather that has pelted Westchester County since the new year, school officials in Tuckahoe have been forced to utilize the district’s first make-up day.

On Wednesday, Schools Superintendent Barbara Nuzzi announced that due to the two latest snow days, the district will be open and regular classes will be on Monday, March 30, which was originally scheduled to be the first day of spring recess.

It has not been determined which vacation days will be taken away in the event of another winter storm forcing the district to close, though in years past, additional days were taken from spring recess.

State law mandates that school be in session no less than 180 days each academic year in order to qualify for state aid.
