Each year, student-athletes from the Bronxville High School team with members of the Bronxville Elementary School to teach the third-grade class the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork, honesty and hard work both on and off the field.
The annual event was organized by the district’s athletic department and Athletic Council. It affords older students the opportunity to share some of their more memorable sport experiences and discuss with their younger peers how they’ve managed to balance their academics with athletics.
Bronxville High School junior Mac Crawford, a two-sport athlete and vice president of the Athletic Council said that he has enjoyed the experience of helping younger student-athletes prepare for their futures.
“Everything starts at such an early age, whether it’s advance the sport or advancing your character or personality,” he said. “Instilling in them at such a young age that sportsmanship is key, is going to benefit them in the future.”
