The girls playing in the Little League Majors softball division will have the honor of opening the District 20 Little League all-star tournament. Majors softball, beginning Friday, June 20, is one of seven softball and baseball divisions that will play for the respective District 20 titles. The age brackets are: 9-10 baseball and softball, majors softball, 11 baseball, junior baseball and senior baseball. District 20 encompasses the following areas: Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry, Eastchester, Elmsford, Harrison, Hastings, Kenisco/Valhalla, Port Chester, Rye, Rye Brook, Scarsdale, Sherman Park and White Plains. Assistant District 20 Administrator and umpiring chief Noah Strone said the selection meeting will be held Tuesday, June 8 in Silver Lake. District 20 will host the sectional Junior baseball tournament at Silver Lake Park, July 22-25.
Listed below are each age division with the starting date first, followed by the championship dates and sites: Majors softball -- June 20; Championship -- June 30 at Kensico Little League. Majors baseball -- June 23; Championship -- July 12 at Brentwood Park (Harrison). Ages 9-10 baseball -- June 23; Championship -- July 9 at Silver Lake Park. Ages 9-10 softball -- June 24; Championship -- July 7 at Ardsley. Ages 10-11 baseball -- July 9; Championship -- July 19 at White Plains. Junior baseball -- July 14; Championship -- July 17 at Manhattanville College. Senior baseball -- Championship -- July 16 at Manhattanville.
