VALHALLA, N.Y. – Eastchester turned on the power Monday at the Section 4 Little League Baseball Majors Championship at Pat Henry Field.

Eastchester belted five home runs, highlighted by John Doherty’s walk-off grand slam in the eighth inning, during a 12-8 slugfest over Briarcliff in a losers bracket game.

Eastchester faces New Rochelle at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Pat Henry Field. New Rochelle beat Eastchester, 13-6, in a first-round game Saturday, also on a walk-off.

Trailing, 8-7, Eastchester’s Mark DeLorenzo led off with a home run. It was DeLorenzo’s second of the summer. Earlier in the District 20 winners bracket final, he had hit a three-run shot to give Eastchester a 6-5 win over Ardsley. After DeLorenzo’s solo shot on Monday, Eastchester loaded the bases, and Doherty delivered the game-winning slam.

“It was a great team effort,” Eastchester manager Anthony Satriale said. “The boys battled for eight innings. I am very proud of their accomplishment.”
