Eastchester 9-10 softball wins District 20 game

Eastchester continued its offensive barrage Sunday, in a 12-6 win over Ardsley in a District 20 Little League 9-10-year-old winners’ bracket game at Gedney Field in White Plains. Sherman Park will be Eastchester’s opponent in the winners’ bracket final, Thursday, 5:45 p.m. at O’Rourke Field in Eastchester.

The winners scored 12 runs in their first District 20 game. Ardsley moves to the losers’ bracket and it will play Hastings, Tuesday, 5:45 p.m. at Pat Henry Field in Valhalla. White Plains, which lost to Sherman Park, also goes to the losers’ bracket and will play Harrison, Tuesday, 5:45 p.m. at McDowell Field in Ardsley.

Eastchester collected 12 hits, including three doubles.  Ardsley led 3-1 going into the bottom of the sixth inning when Eastchester erupted for six runs. Tori Santonauro led off the inning with a double and scored on Sophia Boscia’s single. Ashley Anello highlighted the inning with a two-run double, scoring Santonauro and Madison Piro, Brid O’Connell would add a run-scoring double in a four-run fourth inning.

“Everyone hit the ball and put it in play,” Eastchester manager Ken Graham said. “Our defense made some really good plays. Ashley Graham, our third baseman, some a some very good plays and Sophia Boscia and Brid O’Connell made some nice catches in the outfield.".
