Eastchester Blue Devils Football Sweep Orangetown

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. - Three Eastchester Blue Devils youth football teams swept visiting teams from visiting Orangetown (Rockland) in opening-day action Sunday.

Eastchester Blue Devils Jr. Pee Wees (65-105 pounds) opened their season with a strong performance, posting a 24-0 victory against the visiting Orangetown Patriots at Haindl Field. The Jr. Pee Wees played relentless team defense anchored by Mike LoParrino, Nick LoParrino and Jack Brien.

The Devils offense was able to move the ball on the ground and through the air behind an offensive line led by Andrew Lubrino, Roger Burwell and Anthony Fernandez. Ryan Cooper scored twice and Ajani Mena and Derek Robertson each had a touchdown. Robertson threw for two touchdown passes and returned a punt 90 yards for the opening score.

The Jr. Pee Wees continue their early season play Sunday with a visit to upstate Monroe.

Blue Devils Mitey Mites 20, Orangetown 6

The Eastchester Blue Devil Mitey Mites (45-90 pounds) won their first opening game against the Orangetown Patriots, 20-6, led by a strong defensive showing. The Devils defense did not allow a first down in the game.

Henry Donohue opened the scoring for Eastchester, followed by a touchdown by Angelo Sperandio and a closing score by Jason Vavrica that sealed the victory.

Blue Devils Pee Wee 31, Orangetown 7

The Eastchester Pee Wee team (75-120) topped Orangetown Patriots, 31-7, as the offense and defense played well throughout the game. C.J. Watford, Luis Cruz and Spencer Carter led the Pee Wees offense.
