Eastchester Falls to Dobbs in Lacrosse Opener

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Gabby Gifford scored three goals in the first half Thursday and the Dobbs Ferry girls lacrosse team opened its regular season with a 10-4 victory over visiting Eastchester.

Gifford’s hat trick lifted the Eagles to a 6-2 halftime lead and the teams played an even second half with each scoring four goals. Midori Kihara and Kristy Degner each scored twice for Dobbs Ferry.

Eastchester (0-1) got balanced scoring with Amanda Macchia, Clarissa Mejia, Lauren McMahon, Gabby Pinto, Janie Marcin and Gail Kheyman each scoring a goal.

Freshman goaltender Camille Ratay stopped 19 shots to help keep the Eagles girls ahead throughout the game.

Eastchester cut the deficit to 7-4 early in the second half and goalie Katie Feigenbaum stopped 13 shots in the game.
