Eastchester Rallies To Win In Section 4 Softball

POUGHQUAG, N.Y -- Facing an early deficit for the first time during this all-star softball season, Eastchester responded Sunday. Eastchester rallied and went on to a 7-5 win over Pearl River (District 18) in a Section 4 Little League Softball Majors’ Championship game at Beekman Little League. Eastchester moves into the winner’s bracket and will face Middletown (District 17). The winner of this game earns a berth in the title game, Wednesday. The loser’s bracket game, Monday, is Pearl River and Brewster (District 33). “I am certain that our game with Ardsley in the district championship helped us immeasurably against Pearl River and we thank Ardsley for that,” Eastchester manager Chris Tiso said. “The Ardsley game was a game that tested our mettle since it was the first time we were down in a game or had a tight game. That taught us how to fight back after being behind, then fighting back to win after Ardsley fought back hard to tie us.” Pearl River led, 4-0, through two innings, but Eastchester’s bats came to life after that. Eastchester scored three runs in the third on hits by Cassie DiLeo and Carson Delasho. Eastchester took the lead for good in the fourth. Nicole Calabro and Daniella “Speedy” Chiodi singled and Sophia Tiso singled home Calabro. Amanda Graham followed with a two-run single, bringing home Chiodi and Calabro. Eastchester added one more run in the sixth on consecutive doubles from Cassie McGrath and Tiso.
