Eastchester is 12-1 this season and has emerged as one of the contenders in Class A. The Eagles’ lone loss came against Class A powerhouse Poughkeepsie High School on Dec. 15.

Junior Jack Daly has not only firmly established himself as the best player on his team, but he has developed into one of the best players in Section 1. He leads his team in scoring and has posted totals of 46 and 34 points this year to go along with multiple 20 plus-point performances.

Last season, Daly and Dave Solano were almost a two-man team for the Eagles. When they had an off game, Eastchester struggled mightily. But this year, the team is much deeper and scoring comes from more than one or two players.

The Eagles have shown this season they can win even when Daly is not at his best. Eastchester traveled to Sleepy Hollow last Friday and won by 15 despite Daly scoring just nine points. Mike Milo took over with 20 points and Dan Ciardiello chipped in 11 in the win.

Tuckahoe, too, is a top contender in its class. The Tigers have struggled to win games this season, but much of that comes from their extremely tough schedule, which does not contain a single Class C or D school.

Tuckahoe amassed 25 wins and zero losses en route to a state title last year, but the makeup of the team is far different this season. Returning players Shyheim Nixon, Nick Reisman and Kayvon Reid are the keys to victory for Tuckahoe.

Eastchester is a deeper team than Tuckahoe, but the Tigers will have to start by shutting down Daly. The Eagles can win even if their star player has an off night, but Tuckahoe’s chances at victory will be slim if the junior gets on a roll.
