Eastchester's DelGatto Recalls Top Three Moments

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- Eastchester High School senior football player Rick DelGatto was diagnosed with a heart problem in August of 2010, cutting short his high school football career, but the football star stuck with his team and became a team leader from the sidelines, working with the coaching staff to help his teammates to succeed.

DelGatto, who was with the team through all of its practices and games as the Eagles finished the season with a 5-4 record, graduates this month and will move on to college with thousands of local student/athletes. Before entering the next stage of his education, DelGatto listed the three most vivid memories if his high school career.

1. Earning the 12th Man Award at the Section 1 football dinner. And being put along side a name like Tony Panio -- former Eastchester player who overcame a rare disease to return to the field.

2. Watching the varsity football team beat Rye to end a 69-game winning streak.

3. Beating Nyack by a safety and by an inch.
