Merricks Join Volunteers at Constellation Seniors

RYE, N.Y. - Legends of golf including Tom Watson, Ben Crenshaw and Fred Couples will play the historic Westchester Country Club course this week, but the Constellation Energy Seniors Golf Open wouldn't be able to tee off if it weren't for an army of local volunteers.

Course Information Chair Tricia Merrick, who lives in nearby Greenwich, Conn., will be overseeing four different committees - Long Drive, Standard Bearers, Walking Scorers and Golf Channel/TV Spotters. She'll also be helping to coordinating the more than 700 volunteers from the tri-state area.

"My job is really to make sure that the Committee Coordinators have what they need so that things run smoothly," Merrick said. “I also act as the liaison between the coordinators and the PGA TOUR staff. We are fortunate to have an amazing group of Coordinators to work with. They are making my job really easy."

Merrick got involved in the Westchester-based Buick Classic when it was held at Westchester Country Club and was Volunteer Chair for the tournament for four years, overseeing the more than 1,200 volunteers. When she learned that the Constellation was moving to the area from its Baltimore venue, she signed on and brought along her son Sam, a member of the Greenwich High golf team and a an avid fan.

“Sam is an avid golfer and played on the Greenwich High School golf team,” Tricia Merrick said. “He is thrilled to be able to get up close to many of the pros that he has grown up watching.”
