Tuckahoe Boys Overwhelm Lincoln Hall in Class C

TUCKAHOE, N.Y. – The suspense was gone early in the first quarter Tuesday when the Tuckahoe boys basketball team sprinted to an early 15-point lead en route to a 100-35 victory over visiting Lincoln Hall in a quarterfinal game of the Section 1 Class C basketball tournament at Tuckahoe High School.

The streaking top-seeded Tigers, who are the Section 1 Class C defending champions, remained unbeaten at 19-0. Tuckahoe eliminated No. 8 seed Somers-based Lincoln Hall and advanced to the semifinal round against the winner of No. 4 seed Haldane and No. 5 seed Hamilton next Monday at 6:15 p.m. at the Westchester County Center.

“We have had a couple of scrimmages but won’t play again until next week, so we wanted to run our offense and play good defense,” said Tigers coach Al Visconti, who gave his bench a good amount of playing time in the easy win. “Lincoln Hall lost its best player and they had some inexperienced kids out there. We just wanted to get ready for the next round and play well.”

Sky Williams led all scorers with 33 points and Jusrin Nolan scored 23 for the Tigers, who led 33-16 after one quarter and 59-22 at halftime before Visconti emptied his bench on the third quarter.

“We try to play smart defense and go all out in all of our games,” Tuckahoe forward Kayvon Reid said. “We use out defense to start the offense. We can always improve. We’ll see better teams in the County Center, so defense will be the most important factor if we want to win.”

Mark Raymond helped key the Tigers defense and scored seven points. Nolan added eight rebounds and eight assists and Williams led the Tigers with 11 rebounds.

“We (the Tigers big men) concentrate on playing good defense, rebounding and getting the ball out on the break,” Raymand said. “If we play good defense the offense will come.”
