Tuckahoe Youth Association Boasts Baseball Success

TUCKAHOE, N.Y. — The Tuckahoe Youth Association Board of Directors offered a recap of the spring baseball and softball season Friday, noting age group and league champions in six divisions.

In its season-ending email to members, the TYA board thanked its coaches, commissioners, players, youth umpires and parents for their support in making the 2012 spring season a great success. The board also thanked Sally Veltidi of the Town of Eastchester for her support in the use of athletic fields.

“Without all of your help and love for the game we would not be able to have such a great league for 600 players,” the board wrote. “Congratulations to the winning teams.”

The Mohawks were Youth Division champions, the Angels took the Minors Division title (9-10-year-olds) and the Mets were the Majors Division champions (ages 11-12).

The TYA’s 13-Under travel team won the Westchester Baseball Association title under coaches John Roque, Rich DeLorenzo, Donald Gunther and John Walzer; the 10-Under travel team took the Pelham Memorial Day Tournament championship, and the 9-Under boys’ travel team took second place at March Madness at “The Rock” Tournament in New Rochelle.
