Tuckahoe's Judy Guerriero a Fan of Military Sons

TUCKAHOE, N.Y. -- Judy Guerriero is a typical sports mom, who has watched and supported her sons as they grew up playing recreation and high school sports, with two of them playing on Tuckahoe High School championship football teams.

Yet, no amount of maternal pride can match the feelings Guerriero has for her sons Salvatore and Anthony now that they are both members of the U.S. military.

"I'm so proud of them for their choices," Judy Guerriero said after returning from her son Anthony's boot camp graduation May 29 at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. "They adhere to a strict moral code and system of values that has preserved our great country and I understand that their sacrifice is what keeps our nation great. I will never expect anything but the best from my airmen. I know they are capable."

Older son Salvatore Guerriero, who is stationed at Dyess Air Force base in Abilene, Texas and has served for the past three years, is now a Senior Airmen. He has served tours of duty in Afghanistan and other overseas bases. He played on Tuckahoe's 2006 Class D state football championship team.

Younger sibling Anthony followed in his brother's footsteps and joined the Air Force also. Anthony now will attend Tech School for Security Forces, also on Lackland Air Force base. Once he completes Tech School, he will be report to McQuire Air Force base in New Jersey, where he will be a little closer to home than his brother, at least for the near future.

Joe Guerriero, a member of the 2011 Tuckahoe football team that won the Section 1 Class D football championship, is going the route his bothers have taken and will be signing up with the U.S. Marines sometime after graduation later this month.

"I communicate by letters, email and sometimes telephone calls," Judy Guerriero said. "I give my complete and unwavering support to my boys. I stand ready, willing and able to do whatever I can do to let my sons know that I'm here for them, beside them and love them for there choices in life."
