Police ID Bayonne Woman Struck, Killed On Route 46 In Parsippany A 73-year-old Bayonne woman was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing Route 46 in Parsippany on Monday, April 8, authorities said. At 11 a.m., Sonia Diaz was crossing Route 46 West at North Beverwyck Road in Parsippany, when she was struck by a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which collided with a second vehicle, a Kia Forte, Megan Knab, a spokeswoman for the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said.  Diaz was pronounced dead at the scene, Knab said. Man Shot In Newark: Police A man was shot in Newark on the early morning of Friday, April 5, authorities said. At 3:28 a.m., police responded to Astor Street near Pennsylvania Avenue on a report of a shooting, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said. Officers were advised a man had arrived at University Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound and is in stable condition, Fragé said. Warren County Sex Offender Who Assaulted Teen Girl Arrested For Failing To Register: Cops A 54-year-old Bridgeton resident was arrested on Thursday, March 21 in Warren County after he failed to register as a sex offender, authorities said. James Alston was also wanted for violating a lifelong parole order, Independence Township police said on Facebook.  In 1995, Alston was found guilty in Sussex County of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl he lured with alcohol when he was 25 years old. Car Strikes Utility Pole On Route 519: Njsp A car crashed into a utility pole on County Route 519 in Hunterdon County on the evening of Tuesday, April 9, authorities said. At 6:30 p.m., a Volkswagen passenger vehicle ran off the roadway while traveling on the highway in Kingwood Township and then struck the utility pole, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said.  There were no injuries reported and the crash remains under investigation.

A 2.6 aftershock was recorded in Somerset County on Wednesday, April 10, according to the United States Geological Survey.
